During our stay on Tenerife, we visited both Loro Parque and Siam Park. Siam Park has received the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award every year from 2014 to 2024, which I found incredible.
While visiting both parks, we noticed the Thai-inspired architecture. At first, I thought the parks were owned by some rich Thai businessman, but that wasn’t the case. They are actually owned by the Kiessling family, who are German-born but based in the Canary Islands. Loro Parque was founded in 1972 by Wolfgang Kiessling, and later, in 2008, he opened Siam Park together with his son Christoph Kiessling.
One interesting fact is that Christoph received permission from the Thai royal family to use the park’s name and theme. He respected their wishes and did not copy any royal palaces, temples, or Buddha statues.
Overall, I would highly recommend visiting both of these attractions.
“Loro” means parrot in Spanish, and as you can imagine, there were a lot of parrots there. There was even an area where you could walk
through them, which was very cool. I didn’t stay there very long, though, because the birds were extremely loud. Besides parrots, there were many other animals, such as monkeys, dolphins, sea lions, and even orcas.
Siam Park is a huge water park with many different rides. I think anyone can find something they enjoy there, but adrenaline lovers will probably have the most fun. I was constantly screaming while going down the slides as it was both scary and exciting at the same time. I would definitely like to visit again, maybe with better weather.
In conclusion: book a flight to Tenerife and visit Siam Park and Loro Parque as soon as possible.
