Recently, my classmate and I decided to visit the Tarragona Cathedral. I had never seen a real cathedral before (only on TV) so this was a completely new experience for me.
We went in the afternoon so we could take our time exploring. The cathedral is very close to where we live, only about a five minute walk away, so it didn’t take long to get there. When we arrived, I was immediately impressed. The building is huge and looks amazing in person. What surprised me the most is that construction started in 1154 and was finished in the 14th century. It’s incredible that people were able to build such a tall and beautiful structure so long ago. Before going inside, we walked around the cathedral to see it from different angles. It took a bit of time because the building is so large. While looking at it, I kept wondering how people in the past managed to build something like this.
When we finally went inside, I was even more impressed. The interior was very big, and the altar was especially beautiful and richly decorated. After seeing the altar, we spent some more time walking around and looking at the rest of the cathedral.
Overall, it was a great experience and something I won’t forget. Now I would like to visit more cathedrals in the future, maybe in Barcelona or other places.
