First day at work

After two weeks at ISSA school, it was time to go to a company to see how they work in authorized workshops. I went to an Audi and Volkswagen company. I was truly shocked when no one knew how to speak English, not even the boss of the workshops. He tried speaking to me in German, and while I know a little German, it’s far from enough for a conversation. So communication was hard, especially the first day, but true the day we came to an agreement where they point at something and say some simple words to me for me to take care of it, which works for me as long as I can work.

What I noticed is that they are not as hardworking as we are in Slovenia. I think we work a lot harder, but they are a lot happier at work than we are. They are enjoying their time at work more.

What they have, which I wish every company had, is a cafeteria where you can get a warm meal at work without having to bring it or go out to eat.

The equipment they use is similar to that in Slovenia, but the side of the workshops is ten times bigger, which when you are walking through it its a little scary, and its a good morning workout.

Also, a big surprise it was when they said that an apprentices workday is only from 8 to 14 o clock, which I don’t mind, but its a lot different from what I am used to, because of that the day goes a lot faster, and I have more time to explore Brno or just chill at home.
