From Brnik to Jyväskylä

Our journey began early in the morning at Brnik Airport, when I met my teacher Metoda and my schoolmate Alen. The airport was still quiet, and the excitement of the trip was already in the air. We were about to start a long journey that would take us from Slovenia to Finland, passing through the vibrant city of Istanbul.

After boarding the plane, we soon left Slovenia behind us and also we almost left behind our teacher. As the plane climbed higher, the mountains slowly disappeared beneath the clouds. The food was actually not terrible and our first destination was Istanbul, one of the largest and most fascinating cities in the world. The flight went smoothly, and before long we were descending toward the enormous Istanbul airport. This Turkish airport is i think the second biggest in Europe.

Even though we were only there for a transfer, the airport itself felt like a city. There were people from all over the world, different languages everywhere, and countless shops and restaurants. It was exciting to see such an international place and realize how far we had already travelled. We also saw a mosque inside the airport and everything was decorated for Ramadan.

Soon it was time to board our second flight, this time heading north toward Helsinki. During the flight the landscape below slowly changed. The warmer colors of the south were replaced by snowy landscapes and frozen lakes as we approached Finland. When we finally landed in Helsinki, the air felt colder and fresher than back home.

But our journey was not finished yet. From the airport we headed to the train station to catch a train to Jyväskylä. The train ride was calm and comfortable. As we travelled through Finland, we saw endless forests, frozen lakes, and small towns covered in snow. The scenery felt peaceful and completely different from Slovenia.

After several hours on the train, we finally arrived in Jyväskylä. It had been a long day of travelling — planes, airports, and trains — but also an exciting adventure but really tiring.
