From Sunrise to Simulators

We woke up at 6:45 and got ready for school. After we got ready, we went downstairs to the store to grab an energy drink. We decided to go to school on foot. Gradia is about 1.8 km away from our apartment. While we were walking, we could see the beautiful sunrise. The road was tricky because it was very slippery due to the ice. We had to walk carefully so we wouldn’t fall.

When we arrived at school, we went to the cafeteria for breakfast. School started at 8:15. Our teacher told us to unload a container so he could see if we had good forklift skills. We switched every three pallets so everyone could practice. After we unloaded the container, we also loaded it again. It was a good exercise for practicing forklift control and teamwork.

After we finished, we took a 15-minute coffee break. After the break, we tried using the HIAB lift. We had to be very precise with the big machine. Our task was to place a 5-liter fuel tank into a bucket using the lift. It required a lot of concentration and careful movements.

Soon after that, we took another break because it was lunchtime. The lunch break is 45 minutes long. We went to the cafeteria for lunch. Food in Finnish schools is really good and there are usually several options.

After the break, we went to the simulators. We practiced driving the HIAB truck and the hooklift truck. The simulators are very realistic and useful for learning. All students practice on simulators before trying the real trucks. School finished at 1 pm and then we went back home.
