MONKEY QUEST

During the first week we spent in Spain, while talking about our plans for the weekend, we decided that we wanted to visit Monkey Park. On Friday, our coordinator told us that we were free for the day, so with the school’s permission we decided to go there.

On Friday morning, we went to the main bus station. At first, we were a bit lost and had trouble finding the right bus. There was a lot of confusion, but in the end we managed to find it. The bus ride took about an hour and since we were tired, we fell asleep on the bus.

When we arrived at the final bus stop, our map showed that there should be a road leading to the park, but we couldn’t find it anywhere. We started walking to the nearest town and then back to the station to check if we had missed something. Still, we couldn’t find the road. Just as we were about to give up, a taxi drove by, so we decided to take it.

When we arrived at the park, there was a long line of people waiting to enter. We patently waited our turn and finally got inside. The entrance price was reasonable. Park was quite small, and we spent about an hour there, but the visit was definitely amazing. We saw many animals, each with their own unique features and interesting stories. From playful monkeys to loud, colorful birds, there was something exciting everywhere. In some areas, we could interact with the animals, but touching them was not allowed because they are wild animals, not pets. However, we were allowed to feed them with food provided by the staff. The monkeys were very active and curious, jumping from branch to branch and watching visitors carefully. Some were small and very fast, while others were bigger and calmer. The most interesting thing to see was, how they live in groups and take care of each other.

I would recommend this place, because it is fun, informative and a great opportunity to see animal up close.

After leaving the park, it was time to explore new places. We treated ourselves to lunch and then relaxed on the beach in Los Cristianos. That’s when we discovered, how cold the water actually was. Most of the time, we just relaxed on the beach loungers and enjoyed the view. When the sun disappeared behind the horizon, we headed home. Our beds were calling us and we fell asleep almost immediately after we arrived.
