Exploring the Viking City

This weekend, we went to Ribe because we thought it would be boring to stay in Tønder since there was nothing to do. Ribe is an old city where the Vikings first lived, and they are the main attraction there.

First, we bought tickets for the train, but just minutes before departure, a railway worker came to us and told us there was no train. That was a big problem because we had already bought the tickets. I called customer support and explained the situation. They told me there was an alternative bus since the train wasn’t running.

The bus ride from Tønder to Ribe took about an hour and a half. When we arrived, we were hungry, so we went to Lidl. After that, we explored the city. The day before, I had checked for interesting attractions and found that there was a big cathedral with a tower built in 1769. The tower was around 55 meters tall, and it was very windy at the top.

There were also two interesting museums we wanted to visit—the Museum of Witch Hunt and the Viking Museum. We spent time exploring both and learned a lot about the history of the city. When we saw everything we wanted to, we headed to the bus station to wait for our ride back.

The trip back felt even faster than the ride there. I’m sure everyone enjoyed the trip, and we would definitely do it again if we had the chance.
