Finnish language is very interesting.
Even though I couldn’t understand one word they were saying and they couldn’t understand one word I was saying, it really was up to our english skills if we were to communicate or not. Their language sounds like someone is repeatingly saying the same words over and over again and they have some pretty long words. Sometimes we had to use google translate because most of their packaging was in Finnish language and never in English. Their longest word that is also one of the world’s longest words, consists out of 61 letters ”lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas” which translates as ”airplane jet turbine engine auxiliary mechanic non-commissioned officer student”, compared to Slovenian longest word ”dialekti膷nomaterialisti膷en”. During our stay in the Finland we haven’t been able to master their language, just a few words like kiitos-thank you, joo-yes, perkele-devil (similar to ”god damn” in english), hyv盲盲 syntym盲p盲iv盲盲-happy birthday. That’s some words that I’ve learned, if I were to learn more it would take a lot more time because their language is pretty difficult.
Even though none of us knew Finnish language, most of people in Finland knew English and we were able to communicate. It put our English knowledge to the test and I think I did quite well.
