Lost in translation

So the experience is pretty good. You have some people in the class that you spend time with. Some of them know English, but mostly they don’t. So when you go out, it’s good to have them with you because you have a companion who can help you with translation and understanding. When we went out in the afternoon to experience the nightlife, we met up with a couple of classmates who could speak some English. They helped us and actually gave me an experience I won’t forget. You can’t believe it until you experience it. There are a lot — and I mean a LOT — of people, but almost no one can speak English, although they try. It was funny because they tried to speak English but mostly used Spanish words. The only thing I’m grateful for is that Spanish has some foreign words that are very similar to Slovenian or English words, so sometimes you can catch glimpses of what they are talking about. The thing with Spanish is that it’s a beautiful language, but when they start talking or presenting, they speak so fast that you really can’t follow. You just hear gibberish. It sounds like they’re saying the same word over and over again really fast, but they aren’t. So yeah, Spanish is a good language. That’s probably why people there don’t really need to take English classes in school. It’s hard for you, but you can get through it — they usually know at least a couple of words. So that’s my experience with their language and the way they speak.
