One day my roommate Anže and I watched a YouTube video on Couch about how you shouldn’t lose your connection with church. Anže then looked up where Notre Dame was, and we decided to go there. At first I didn’t really know how it looked, but when we arrived I remembered that I had actually seen it before in YouTube videos and movies. I immediately noticed that it was under construction because they are rebuilding it after the fire that happened in 2019, at least that’s what Anže told me. He is like Wikipedia as a person.

Before we entered, we had to walk through some kind of snake-like path made for visitors. But as soon as you enter the cathedral, you realize how incredibly big it is. From the outside it gives you the impression that the cathedral is smaller, but inside it feels huge and magnificent. It has a strong Gothic atmosphere and gives you the feeling like you are a Christian knight coming to see a cathedral on your way to Jerusalem. That feeling kind of stayed with me the whole time I was inside. The interior almost feels like you are walking through a small museum. I especially fell in love with the pictures and the wall paintings, the frescoes. I also forgot to mention that we entered the cathedral during a mass, which made the atmosphere even more amazing. The sound of people praying and the quiet music made the place feel very peaceful. I also noticed how the light from the stained glass windows colored the inside of the cathedral. It felt like time slowed down while we were standing there. When we finally left, I felt really happy that we decided to visit it.
