A fascinating language

Finnish really is an interesting language. Being that it’s a Finno-Ugric language it sounds completely different to languages we’re used to.

But at the same time I feel like the words and sentences make a lot of sense. I think it’s not a particularly hard language to learn. The only problem might be learning all the words since they aren’t shared with other languages.

For example if you speak English learning german is gonna be a bit easier since they’re at least slightly similar. The only problem we’ve had with it so far is that everything in grocery stores is in Finnish and I do mean everything. As in even the names of food are in Finnish. Of course the instructions for preparing the food are also almost never translated. I don’t even want to imagine how annoying staying here without google translate would be. I think there would be a fair chance that we would somehow manage to screw everything up in the kitchen. I’ve also found out that most people don’t speak english well. So talking to them has been… interesting. Of course some speak english really well. But for the most part I think they speak english as good as the average Slovenian.
