What is the most popular sport in the Czech Republic?

It’s hockey!
Today I went to a playoff game between HC Kometa Brno and HC Dynamo Pardubice. It was the third game, and the last two had been won by HC Dynamo. If Kometa lost again, they would be down 3:0, making it very difficult to come back and reach the semifinals.
I personally have never been to a hockey game, so being there was special. We were in a standing area of the arena, which has a better vibe than a seating section, but you do have to stand for three hours.
The arena can hold 7700 fans, but they usually let in more than that, and by the feel of it, I would say today was more than 8000. The game started well for the home team they were attacking the fans were creating a great atmosphere, but the opposing team was the one who opened the scoring with a quick counterattack.
After that it took the home team a long time to score. The game went back and forth after that, but in the end HC Komenta lost 4:2 and are now 3:0 down.
I never expected to enjoy a game of hockey, but it was really fun and worth watching. I would have been even better if the home team won but that’s sport you can’t always win.
