Human language

It`s so interesting that on our little planet we speak roughly 6,500 different languages. Of course, there are a lot of similarities among them. All today spoken languages belong to 135 identified language families which originate just from few linguistic groups.

During my stay in Finland until now people have taught me how to say hi and thank you in Finnnish.

Normally for me foreign languages aren`t a big obstacle, but this particular language it is so hard for me to understand even a word they say.

In my case it`s nice because Finnish are very good at speaking English and so am I, so there are no bigger problems in communicating even sometimes unknowing the language can still get you in very weird and also funny situations. For example, restaurant dialogs.

Last weekend we went to see Helsinki. Of course, after couple hours long adventure in the ZOO and long walk around the city we became hungry, so we decided to grab some pizza. We found the Pizza hut so we ordered our food. The food was very tasty so we definitely charged our energy. Then the waiter came and said some words in Finnish and I automatically answered: ˝˝Yes, the food was very delicious. ˝˝ Waiter answered me: ˝˝Well these were definitely the right words in the right moment. ˝˝ Of course we all started to laugh because I didn`t even had a clue what I have heard at first, so he explained to me that he said the exact same words that I thought he did.

It was a little weird but definitely very funny experience. It taught me that nevertheless we speak different languages, we still have so many in common that we often understand each other without using the words.
