˝˝Stadi˝˝

In slang it`s called Stadi. More known and official name is Helsinki.

It`s the capital city of Finland, located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, it is the seat of the region of Uusim in southern Finland, and has a population of 656,250. The city’s urban area has a population of 1,268,296, making it by far the most populous urban area in Finland as well as the country’s most important center for politics, education, finance, culture, and research. Helsinki is located 80 kilometres north of Tallinn, Estonia, 400 km east of Stockholm, Sweden, and 300 km west of Saint Petersburg, Russia. It has close historical ties with these three cities.

On last Sunday we decided to visit the capital city of our exchange host country. At first we had some problems buying train tickets because we tought that the simpliest way to buy them is on the train. Last moment before boarding, we noticed the sign saying ˝˝NO TICKET SALE˝˝. In just few moments we had to find them on internet and buy them. The luck was on our side so we mannaged to board the train in a timely manner. The railway lead us trough the countryside of Finland, it looks very lonely and dark but in its own way it is beautiful. After about one hour we arrived at the central railway station of Helsinki. At Info point we asked what are the most important sights that we shouldnt miss during the visit. In few minutes we got all information nedeed and the exploring began.

We visited ZOO and alot of old buildings, which are ussualy the most known in every town, but Helsinki has one exception. Its the Helsinki library. The moment you see it u can tell that the building itself definitely is something special. With its modern design and wooden exterior it really looks amazing. With certianty I can say that its the most amazing human made building I have ever seen with the exception of Eiffel tower in Pariz.

Our visit ended with again about an hour long train ride and approximately fifteen minute walk from railway station to our hotel. It really was worth the time and money spent.
