I Tried to Fly the MiG-21

Our teacher asked us if we wanted to visit the Finnish Air Force Museum, and we immediately said yes. We were really excited about the idea. The next day, when we arrived at school, two students took us there. We actually arrived a bit too early, so we spent some time just driving around. When we reached the museum, we realized we were still one hour too early. Because of that, we decided to go and get something to eat.

After eating, we returned to the museum at 11 o’clock. Me and Berni went inside together. The ticket cost only 5 euros, which was quite affordable. Inside, we saw many Finnish Air Force planes and helicopters. The museum is located in Tikkakoski near Jyväskylä and shows the history of Finnish aviation. It was interesting to learn that Finland used aircraft from many different countries in the past. They had German, American, British, Swedish, and even Russian planes.

Another interesting fact was that the Finnish Air Force used a blue swastika symbol before World War II. This symbol was later changed after the war. One of the coolest things was that we could go inside some of the planes. We went inside the MiG-21 and the Saab 35 Draken. The inside of the planes was very interesting to see. There were a lot of buttons and controls in these old aircraft. The space inside was very small and tight. I couldn’t imagine remembering what all those buttons do.

After some time, the same two students came to pick us up. They really helped us a lot that day and made the experience even better.
