The Tenerife Chapter

In this blog, I’m going to “cry” about the things I will definitely miss from Tenerife. We stayed there for a long time, long enough for everything to start feeling familiar, for example school, lifestyle, the shops, the roads and more. I remember the moment when we stopped using Google Maps, because we already knew where to go. At some point, It felt like I had live there my whole life.

One thing I will miss the most is living with other teenagers. Not my parents or my boyfriend, but with friends who are still discovering life, just like me. In Tenerife, when we had a problem, we had to solve it on our own. There were no parents to help us, no teachers who felt super close to and also none of our usual friends who we see every day. It was just us.

We had to cook for ourselves. I’m not really cooking person, butt I finally understand my mom when she complains about being a slave. It’s not easy. That experience taught me a lot about independence. I always thought I was independent, but Tenerife made me realize that I still have so much to learn.

Another thing I will deeply miss are late-night walks. Walking with the people I lived with, talking about everything and nothing, getting to know each other better. It felt so peaceful. The streets were empty, the world was quiet and for a moment my stressful thoughts disappeared. Those nights felt simple, but now I realize they were actually special.

And I can’t forget about the school. I actually liked there more. We were focused on one thing instead od many different subjects. Every day, we were thinking about projects, how we are going to design and make pants, bags or costumes. We were focused on fashion. Coming back home made me a bit nervous, because suddenly I had to switch back to many subjects again.

And of course I can’t forget about the beaches. At some point, it didn’t even feel like a holiday anymore. It felt like home. I stil can’t explain how amazing it was to have beaches just ten minutes away. Going there meant leaving all your worries behind. The only thing that you had to think about was not getting sunburned. Lying on a lounger, drinking something cold and  listening to the waves, felt like a dream.

These are just some of the things I will miss the most, but there are so many more. Tenerife gave me memories, experiences and lessons I will never forget. It change me more than I expected.
