BOOM

The title of the blog may seem a bit confusing, and I admit it was confusing for me at first as well. I didn’t understand why people in the workshop at Midas kept shouting “boom” out loud. Later I found out that it was an inside joke among them. Whenever someone felt happy, they would just yell “boom,” and someone else would shout it back. For them, it was a simple sign of joy and good energy. At first I didn’t really get it, but now I kind of feel the meaning behind it. It’s a way of expressing a feeling that you can’t really contain inside yourself. When you’re genuinely happy, you just let it out.

Most of the “booms” happen on Fridays. That’s when everyone is excited about the upcoming weekend after a long work week. I think it’s a really nice way to celebrate the end of the week.  People in Paris also have something they really value: their “five to seven.” It’s that time after work when they can fully relax. At first I didn’t understand why they called it that, but their mindset is actually pretty interesting. Their free time is the weekend, which is a completely different attitude compared to most people in the Balkans.
