When I was walking through the city of Brno, I became interested in the architecture because of the colourful buildings around me and the interesting shapes they had. I could just ignore it was truly beautiful. So I asked a local who was in architecture school, and he explained a lot to me. The other info I got from Google.
Brno was founded around the 13th century. During this era the castle Spielberg was built so were the stone walls around the city. The city grew within the walls until the second half of the 19th century, when the walls were torn down to allow the city to expand. The city at that time belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was mainly designed by German and Austrian architects. Brno was also known as the Vienna suburbs, which locals here find offensive when you say it to them.
Because Brno was designed at its core in the Baroque era, it’s also a very colourful city it looks full of life because of that. Even though Brno was designed in the 19th century, the population boom came later, in the middle of WW1 and WW2. Its also when Brno stopped being connected to Vienna and started focusing on the function of the city, which became the main style of the city. The fact that they already had trams at that time only made it more focused on that way of evolving.
Thats the information I got and after learning all that, it makes a lot more sense why the city looks so beautiful and is so efficient like that.
