It’s my first time living abroad in another country, especially for this long. During our stay on Tenerife, I think we have learned a lot about independence and how to manage our budget.

I think we are eating mostly healthy. At one point, we had 36 eggs in our fridge. If you combine that with the amount of Greek yogurt and chicken we ate, you could easily mistake us for some kind of fitness enthusiasts. I think I ate eggs prepared in every possible way: scrambled, sunny side up, boiled, with rice, and more.

The apartment is quite spacious, but I was missing some plants. I solved this problem by picking up a succulent from the side of the road. Now it’s in a bottle on my bedside table. I wonder if they will let me take it on the plane.

I don’t know about the others, but I will definitely appreciate tap water at home much more. Here, the tap water is desalinated and quite hard. It is drinkable, but the taste is not very pleasant. I personally can’t stand it, so I buy bottled water instead. The hard water has also been very drying for our skin.

Grocery shopping wasn’t too difficult. We usually went to Mercadona, where we could find everything we needed. Their store-brand products were of good quality and reasonably priced. We also tried some local fruits from the store, which were very tasty.

I think we are managing our life abroad quite well.
