Finnish roads are generally very well maintained smooth, clear, and easy to drive on. Overall, driving feels comfortable and stress free.In winter, however, things change a bit. For safety reasons, the roads are covered with sand, which is completely understandable given how icy conditions can get. Sometimes, though, there is quite a lot of it so much that it almost feels like driving on gravel. On one hand, it definitely improves safety, which is the most important thing. On the other hand, there are moments when it feels like it might be slightly overdone.
