Finnish language

Finnish is the main language in Finland and around five million people speak it. It is quite different from most European languages because it comes from the Finno-Ugric language family. Because of that, it sounds very unusual to many foreigners.

The language works in a special way. Words often change by adding different endings, and it is written the same way it is pronounced. Finnish also does not use grammatical gender, which is different from many other languages.

Many people say Finnish is difficult to learn. From my experience, it can really be hard, because I personally understand almost nothing when people speak Finnish. Luckily, many people in Finland speak English, so communication is still possible.
