Life in Slovenia and Abroad

Living in Slovenia and now experiencing life in Denmark has been an exciting journey. Both countries have many great things to offer, but they are also quite different.

Slovenia is small but beautiful, with mountains, lakes, and a relaxed way of life. I love the fresh air and nature. The food is also delicious, especially traditional dishes like potica and štruklji. Denmark, on the other hand, feels more modern and organized. People are friendly but more reserved compared to Slovenians. They respect personal space and are very direct in communication. One big difference is the work culture. In Denmark, coffee breaks and work-life balance are very important. People finish work on time and enjoy their free time. The weather is another contrast. Slovenia has warm summers and cold winters, while Denmark is often cloudy, rainy, and windy. At first, I found it difficult, but I got used to it.

Transport is also different. Many people in Denmark use bicycles, while in Slovenia, cars are more common. I miss driving through the Slovenian countryside. Even though I enjoy my time in Denmark, I sometimes miss home. I miss my family, my friends… The food from home is also something I crave. Living abroad has taught me to be more independent. It has given me new perspectives and helped me grow. No matter where I go in the future, Slovenia will always be a part of me.
