Visiting the biggest festival in my life!

On Tuesday, 5th of March, we went to park Tío Jorge, where there was a festival called Cincomarzada. This event is important for the inhabitants of this area, because on this day in 1838 they won the battle against the French invasion. At 10 in the morning we went to the hotel, where we met with the teachers and then we went to the park together. When we got to the park, we were surprised how many people were there. But what was all this about? This festival is actually their own local holiday and everything is closed that day.

When we were walking through park we could observe some of the stalls but we couldn’t see them all because it was too crowded. When we made our way to the middle of the park, we saw a large statue, which was representing a soldier who was an old farmer. He was a good example of patriotism in the Zaragoza. He was in charge of the defence of the city against the French invasion. This statue was sculpted by Angel Orensanz and is more than 2 meters high. After seeing the park, we needed to take some pictures of us with the statue, but it was kind of hard because there was a lot of people walking in front of us.

We all really enjoyed visiting this festival, because it was something new for us and we probably won’t see this again or just not in the near future. It was really enjoyable experience. After a long day, we went back to the apartment and talked about this festival experience until late at night.
