All things tourist

Saluda,

If you are more of a more curious person when it comes to history and natural resources then the Museum of Nature and Archeology is the place you definitely should visit. Me and Antea were curious right away and went and visited it yesterday.

It is a 10-15 walk from our apartment, it’s quite in the centre of Santa Cruz. When we arrived there, a very nice lady working there explained us some of the things about the museum and we started from there. The entry is chargeable, but since we are here with Erasmus we got a student’s discount so the ticket was only 3,50; normally it’s 5 euros so either way it’s really not expensive.

The museum has a ground and then first and second floor. The museum has the largest collection in the World of Guanche population, Tenerife people before it was conquered by the Castillo kingdom. It is also full of Canarys’ islands natural wealth, full of modern visual examples and historic items to make you understand and see the pre Hispanic populations culture.

You can find the botanics and terrestrial vertebrates and invertebrates, a room that shows the Canary Islands through the centuries that go back to the first ever reports about them till now. There is a wide collection of ancients people, some even kept as mummies. In other rooms you can see a variety of fossils, minerals and stones with some amazing life size animal replicas such as dolphins, turtles and much more.

I found the museum really interesting, the only shame is that nothing is described in English, so in the things that I was most curious about I had to use the translate to help me understand but apart from that it’s is a museum full of visual examples. I would definitely recommend it. 🙂
