Lep pozdrav, sem Timotej Hvala in obiskujem program Strojni tehnik 3+2. V okviru projekta Erasmus+ sem na štiritedenski mobilnosti v mestu Tampere na Finskem.

I was walking on ice!!!

During winter frozen lakes are common all over Finland and last for months even after the snow stops falling, but that period of walkable ice is narrowing due to global warming. The ice thickness varies and this year it is on avarage 40-50cm thick, plenty to walk on.

The lake I was walking on is named Näsijärvi where a skate track was made near the coast. About 1km away from the coast is a rock formation where a lighthouse was built and near it during winter when the ice is thick enough a small shack is slid there, where they sell hot bevarges, doughnuts and sausages.

I was amazed by the long white plains of ice and snow stretching as far as the eye can see. If I had more time and was better prepared I would cross it on foot. Hopefully one day I will.
