Since 1881, Iittala has been dedicated to inspiring better living. What began as a glass factory in a small village in Iittala, Finland has grown into an internationally known brand that has played a decisive role in defining the Nordic way of life.

Two Finish students took me and Tjaša, to see the Iittala village. We first took the train to the Iittala and then we walked to that village. There you can literally watch workers in the factory making glass that is later sold in their shop. They even have chocolate shop with all kinds of chocolate and you can also find antique shop there with very old and interesting things. The main thing in the village is of course the museum of Iittala, where they exhibit the old glass of that brand and you can see the full process of how they did all this fascinating art in the past.

My favorite part of the village is the shop where one gentleman was working with leather. He has a little place that is very cozy and vintage. I felt so nice in there, and the man was so friendly and interesting that I could listen to him even though I didn’t understand him, because he talked in Finnish.

Next stop for us was the museum of some kind of art. They had statue made from paper and paintings that were made very precisely, they also had some exhibition of photos that were pretty funny.

It was a very nice day and we really bonded with the Finnish students which is pretty amazing. I really liked the whole IIttala village, because there is so nice and people there are so friendly. I think I need to say that if you ever have the chance to go and see that village, you should definitely go.
