MISSING HOME

It’s Sunday and it’s been a week since our adventure started. Quite a few things happened in this time.

Me and Miha got to know the school system, we went on a ride to get lunch from school cafeteria to the construction worker program students at their workplace and tried to load and unload smaller truck.

With two of the Finnish students and our teacher we visited our car mechanic students on exchange in Mikkeli on Thursday. The teacher met with their teacher and Finnish coordinator while we went to the city center. We went back to Jyväskylä at 3 pm and arrived at around 5 pm. Because it was our teacher’s last night staying in town, he took me and Miha out for dinner. We had a nice time chatting about this and that. After dinner we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.

The weekend was quite lazy.

Yesterday we (me and Miha) decided to take a 6,5 km long bike ride to Matti Nykänen Ski Jumping Hill. It was cold and it started to drizzle. Even thought I had my gloves on, my fingers were hurting of cold. We went back “home” and warmed ourselves with a cup of hot cocoa. After that we made us lunch while listening to some music and talking about all the different topics. After lunch, we played rummy and by the time we went back to our rooms it was already pitch-black outside. I decided to call it a day, so I took a shower and watched The Hacksaw Ridge before I fell asleep.

I woke up at 7.30 but stayed in my bed for another 30 minutes. My stomach started to rumble, so I got up to make myself some breakfast. Soon enough Miha came to the kitchen, and we made a plan for the day. We decided we were going to visit Natural History Museum of Central Finland, but since it was closed until 12 o’clock went back to our rooms for a few more hours.

At 12 we got ready and walked to Harju, a small hill where the museum stands. We saw lots of animals and plants, typical for this part of the country.

There was also an observation tower and because everything was free of charge, we decided to go check this one out too. We had to walk 6 levels of stairs, which reminded us of our school 🙂 . We felt a bit homesick, so we went to see Nero stairs on our way back.

We didn’t want to cook today, so we had our lunch at McDonald’s.

It’s already getting dark, so I am probably going for a quick walk in the sunset and finish the weekend with a movie.

The Tenerife Chapter
